In bone graft surgery, oral surgeons will use bone from your body, another person's body, or an animal to support bone growth on your jawbone. While the bone graft surgery sounds complicated, it is actually simple. The dentist will make an incision in your gum line, and then place a silver of bone by your existing jawbone. They will then place a membrane over the bone graft to protect it and stitch the incision up. After your bone graft heals completely, your jawbone will be able to support a dental implant, and you'll be ready to begin the implantation procedure.
